luck & health

Wow, I seem to have gotten the blogging bug! Should be because there's no one to pour out my troubles and discomforts to since everyone else is studying hard right now. Hehehe.

I'm falling sick, fast. Took my temperature just now using the infrared ear thermometer upon reaching home and apparently my temperature was 39.9 degrees; insanity. Took a nap for an hour after having lunch and woke up with flu and a heavy head.

I initially thought that the ear thermometer isn't working but my temperature has gone down to around 38 degrees since then and I'm still feeling rather warm/feverish so it shouldn't be spoilt, right?

Plus, my stomach isn't feeling very strong since yesterday night. Wanted to stay in school to study for FABM but I had a persisting stomach ache during today's paper so I decided to head home instead.

And the double decker bus I was on got into an accident! I think it tried squeezing through a tight spot and misjudged, ending up with a shattered window with a hole because it scraped through one of those trucks which transport rocks. Thank goodness I was upstairs and not sitting where that window was.

Didn't get to see how it happened but we all heard a rather loud crashing sound and knew that there was something wrong with the bus. I think cause most of the vehicles nowadays makes use of shatterproof glass thus there wasn't much bits and pieces which flew around but the window is totally cracked. Looked like crushed aluminium foil, with all the glass shattered but still in place.

I've finally finished copying my FABM notes by hand.. and ended up with 20 pages of (handwritten) information. More than 10 hours of copying!

a little time off

I don't understand how people can burn the midnight oil and not sleep at all the night before exams just to study for it. Here I am, attempting to finish copying my notes for ITB but it doesn't seem to be working.

Nothing's being retained in my head and I can't even copy down the notes properly cause the words keep getting jumbled up as I write them down. Perhaps it's because my body's protesting against my willpower already.. perhaps I'm not as strong-willed as others. Whatever it is, I need rest (and my bed!!) very soon since this isn't working anyway.

dedicated to you

Happy 18th Birthday, Zhenning!

I'm glad to have a friend like you & feel really thankful for cross country bringing us together. I miss your randomness and quirky nature when you're not around. Continue to strive in whatever you do, 我会一直支持你的! Take care of yourself, babe. (:

this week

It's crunch time later, Macroecons paper. (EXAMS EXAMS EXAMS) And guess what, I'm still feeling nervous :( This usually doesn't happen cause I usually don't read too much into it. Please don't let me blank out! Anyway, back to reading through my notes. Good luck, all.

Moving away from distractions

I'm sick of studying, and i think my notes are tired of me as well. It makes me darn scared to think that I can't finish the syllabus for all the examinable modules (and trust me, it's highly possible to happen). And I did mention the papers are back-to-back right? 5 in a row... There's so much remembering to do that my brain's mixed up information from different modules and fused them all into a separate, combined subject.

Was copying notes just now and I was supposed to write: "Common yardstick" & it ended up being "common yardyard". Perhaps I need to focus more!

Dinner was nice; we had a barbecue in our backyard (again). Homemade satay + sauce, roasted sweet potatoes, barbequed chicken wings, korean marinated meat + veg. (: I hope the smoke from the charcoal chased away/killed all the mosquitoes which have been hovering around the house recently. Go attack the neighbours instead, you mozzies!

study period

I haven't announced this on my blog but it is time to bring out all the notes and prepare for the exams! I'm anticipating lots of 'B's for this semester based on the project grades so it means that I've really got to try harder for the exam papers.

Kind of feels like O levels, actually. With 5 papers back to back T_T

On another note, my laptop is repaired already. An additional trip to the IT help desk for reformatting did the trick (:

Valentine's

Happy Valentine's Day! (:

Had to drag myself to leave the house this morning cause I wasn't really looking forward to seeing all the couples everywhere but I'm glad I met up with the birdshelf people in the end. We had a nice time today; eating, talking, taking photos, people watching.

Thank you: Cab for the sweet letter, Dao Hui for the note, Fangfang & Gladys for the chocolates, Purdey for the hand-made rose, Chia Yin for the dessert treat!

Enjoyed the loads of food we ate and the decadent desserts as well! (: Tried macarons for the first time and they were yummy. We also had a little photo shoot thing at the Esplanade's rooftop after Dao Hui left. It was quite funny! Thanks for the lovely day!

Amnesia

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JT! :D and it's friday the 13th today, did anyone realise?

Anyway, I finally managed to get my hands on an external hard drive to save my back up files in. This will be my last blog entry before I wipe out everything in my laptop's memory (reformatting my laptop). It's kind of scary.. sort of feels like my laptop's about to undergo an operation!

Uh.. plans' canceled. My laptop can't be reformatted cause there seems to be some kind of problem :( Frustrating to the max.

Tuesday, February 10, 2009

Hello, folks. I'm bored at home at this moment but I guess tomorrow won't be another stay-at-home day. Went out to collect my new passport yesterday afternoon and ended up cleaning up my portion of the room when I got back. I even vacuumed the floor!

My laptop's suffering, somewhat. I managed to invite a Trojan.Brisv.A virus/thing into my laptop whilst attempting to download a song via Limewire. I bet my ITB teacher would probably ask me, "Didn't IT in Business teach you anything? That all these freeware and stuff are likely to contain viruses?". Hah. Anyway, this the Auto-Protect Results for Systematic Antivirus keeps popping up saying that there's a Trojan but it's unable to remove it. Thus, it's a visit to the IT helpdesk in school tomorrow for me & my laptop then. (;

Oh and phone updates! My handphone actually recovered from the drowning incident. But major buttons such as back, down, exit call, number 8 are not working at the moment so it's practically useless. So right now, I'm using my grandpa's old old old hp which looks pretty cool.

my phone...

I guess you all remember when I lost my bag around 3 months back. My 1 month old LG phone was gone, as well as my wallet, etc. Today, I dropped my trusty old Motorola V3i in the toilet into the... toiletbowl. And it's pretty much dead. Thank goodness the SIM card is still very much alive and kicking (not literally).

So my brother passed me my sister's old handphone which he was using because his own phone's screen has problems. Now that I'm using the spare phone, my bro has to use the ancient 8 year old (i think) hp which belonged to my grandfather. It's so old, it looks like a toy and the screen is TINY. Thank you, my dear brother. (:

I feel really crummy right now. Plus, body's not feeling too well either. And there's much work to be done for IAC which is due tomorrow (!!!) Oh shucks.

time's flying

Well, BA_Comm finally held the Motion TV event on 23rd January. The turn-out for this event was very small. Still, it was enjoyable. Nothing beats seeing your own (group's) creation on the large screen! :D I know my laptop's screen quite large already, but still.. the one in the lecture theatre is definitely much larger. Hahahha.

So here's a photo of all the TR03 folks present at this event [minus fei], thanks for dropping by! And good job to Cab & Fion on your video as well as to Edison for the lights & sounds (??).

"So You've Got Nothing To Wear?" actually won 2 awards; best video concept & best audience choice. However, we passed on the latter award to Cab & Fion's group cause we really felt that it was pretty much a class effort! Be proud of your creation, because the rest of us are. (: I really liked how you guys introduced the Reality TV video too!

Yep and I think I mentioned having the font desk practical for HOM right? Here's a class photo from that day. Everyone's dressed so smartly and looked good!

Lastly, I'd like to give a shout out to the 3 girls. Not sure if you guys still visit here but I'd like to say that I miss all of you and hope that you all are coping well with your studies at the moment. It's a stressful year ahead, so buckle up for this bumpy ride! I'll always be here if you need a listening ear :) Take care, my dears!

presentation meetings

Things that we do during HOM group meetings..

1. Play the Tontoko Family game on eyezmaze.com! This is my best result so far, getting past 93 obstacles! The score is still lower than Ellis' though, don't know why (:

2. Make fun of other's MSN nicknames. It started out with 'the past' and has branched out to many other different timelines. Mine's 'the just now'. Haha!

3. Playing Guess The Sketch - MSN version. Can you tell what Chia Yin is trying to sketch?? :D

Anyway, we're clearing another 2 presentations tomorrow. Yay!!! After that, will be IAC, which is the last presentation for this semester and then it'll be.. THE exams. So much to study and so many more dry subjects/topics :(
